Expressive Art Therapy uses movement, visual art, music, writing, sound and improvisation in a supportive setting to facilitate growth, personal development and healing.
It is a process of discovering oneself through the arts and facilitates healing that goes beyond traditional talk therapies. Benefits and outcomes of this process are an uncovering of inner resources, and a renewed connection with oneself, the community and the natural world. It also has the ability to give distance to an issue, allowing one to process life's challenges from a safe perspective. The expressive art process offers a way to express oneself without words and to release difficult emotions and trauma through the gentle guided process of conscious breathing, movement and art making.
This process allows participants to move through emotional blocks, tap into their creativity and transform their lives. By rediscovering play and reigniting creativity, a sense of purpose, peace, resilience and inner strength can be attained. Clients can then face life's challenges with a more positive approach.
My training and specialization is in breath/voice work, engaged movement and mindfulness. I am a practitioner of yoga, authentic movement and am a certified samadhi meditation instructor.
I also hold a diploma in addictions counselling and am available as a Recovery Solutions Coach
